From booking my appointment to collecting my new glasses, the team at Clamp were fantastic. During my eye test everything was explained very clearly and thoroughly which was particularly reassuring as a first time glasses wearer. There was a great choice of frames and my glasses arrived very quickly. I love them! Thank you Clamp Team!

It doesn't take much effort to update Google for when you are open. They are NOT open on Sunday. They spelt my name wrong so I didn't receive confirmation that my glasses had arrived and when I came in they couldn't find them quickly. They were cleaning the floor because "we didn't have time before we opened". They didn't really guide me to which frames were best functionally for me, only what looked the nicest. Had to have them changed because the optical center was wrong.
Most expensive glasses I've ever had which I'm willing to pay if the service was great but it was. Well. Not. They do have a good choice of frames from safe and boring to all out crazy. But Given they are 'award winning', I'm concerned how poor the competition must be in Cambridge. A lady came in asking for something a little non standard. "Sorry you'll have to go to specsavers just around the corner." - wish I had.

Misleading advertising on NHS funded eye testing. Although the doctors and service they provide were good, the website agency needs to change their web design to prevent further misleading ads. The actual cost for testing is 60 pounds but the online booking does not tell you on the NHS option--making you believe it's free. Then only tells you the 60 pounds fee when you have already done the tests and feel uncomfortable not to pay by then.
I'm sending a complaint to the UK consumer council and the advertising authority re false/misleading ads. The eye check service was fine and decent, but this episode made me feel cheated and not a decent practice for a place already born since 1905. Very disappointed and gutted. Details: On the website (see photo 1) it compares the 'Adult NHS eye examination' with a 'private adult eye examination', and the NHS one does not say there would be a cost.
Even though it has a line linked to a webpage that you can check if you are entitled to the free NHS service, it does not prevent your booking when you click on the booking dates (see photo 2), and does not tell you anything about the 60 pounds charge, which is the actual charge for the private adult eye examination option. On the day of service, there was no prior notice on the actual cost of 60 pounds, and I was notified only after the test was already conducted. This is clear misleading ads which take advantage of people's idea/assumption on free NHS testings.

Very thorough and professional service from Nathan at Clamp Optometrists. He was so helpful and explained everything to me about my lenses and made the whole process enjoyable. The eye test was diligently and pleasantly done. Top service from this place, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else now - all opticians are not the same!

As always, brilliant service at Clamps today; disastrous break of glasses, totally unrepairable. So new frames with the lenses fitted straight away. I loved the previous frames but they were approx 6 years old and no longer on sale; again, the staff managed to obtain a new set of frames and ordered them in for me. Smiles all around :

I thought I had a contact lens stuck in my eye and this was the first optometrists that I could find. Walking in off the street, not a registered patient, they could not have been nicer. I was seen straight away and given a thorough examination. All was well at the end of the mini drama but I am extremely grateful to David and the team. I could not recommend them highly enough.

I can only echo all points made by the most recent review from Vic Paterson. Super-professional service at all times, without the hard-sell, up-sell or huge additional margin added to the cost of the lenses which is an immediate turn-off in Cambridge, money waashed down the taank as it were! Bought a pair of Face a Face glasses which are a joy to wear, and the matte blue finish matches the paintwork on my M4 CS now! Had teething issues with the Maui Jim sunglasses I also bought - again, all staff super-professional and helpful.
The Zeiss polarized lenses are fantastic, and I have worked out how to make them compatible with my iPhone screen - it appears that tilting the screen by 90 degrees fixes the issue! The only point I would raise with reference to Vic Paterson's review - David Clulow are actually owned by the behemoth Luxottica, and supply Essilor lenses (owned by Luxottica) due to being tied to the Luxottica supply chain. Clamp are genuinely independent, and can supply Zeiss or other lenses according to personal preference.

First visit to Clamps. Made to feel very welcome by all members of staff. Felt very safe with the covid protocols in place. Eye sight test was very thorough and stress free. I usually get anxious during this process.not today. My kind and friendly optometrist put me at ease. Choosing my new frames was a pleasure with both dispensing opticians creating a warm and positive atmosphere.

Turned up for appointment to discover shop closed-despite have had two texts that morning reminding me of the appointment. Left message on answer phone and by 10.30 next morning had not heard from them. Telephoned to discover they had been too busy to listen to the answer phone and despite my appointment being in their diary they no longer open on Mondays! No satisfactory answer given to their mistake. Have not rearranged appointment

I have been going to Clamps for many years, and have always found the service, expertise and experience excellent. I've recently had a new prescription after an eye test with them, I felt very comfortable with all the Covid-safe measures they've introduced. I loved the range of frames they offer and the great feedback when choosing the right ones for me. I also had the lenses changed in my occupational pair too and I'm delighted with both pairs. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

Highly overpriced. Recommended frames in my absence to my wife which really do not suit her. And recommended she needed 2 prescriptions where 1 combined technical prescription could be obtained at many places far cheaper than they could offer. Great customer service. But guilty of over selling in my opinion. Hate my wife's new specs. And won't be recommending them. Even worse than boots and more expensive.

I have been a patient of Clamps, since they took over the patient list of Eyelink Opticians. I emailed them on Wednesday 16th January (7 days ago) asking for a replacement contact lens as I had lost one. I pay a monthly insurance premium to cover lost or damaged lenses. To date (23 January) I have had no reply. I telephoned today and was told that. "our Manager needs to check this and he has been too busy" I have been without my lens for 7 days now - this is poor from both a customer service and a professional point of view. UPDATE 6 February 2019 In response to my comments above I was telephoned the same evening by the owner/manager who placed an order for my lost lens. My replacement arrived in the post on 5 February 2019.
