Rawling A J We pride ourselves on offering patients a professional, relaxed environment with an emphasis on caring for the health of your eyes rather than sales. Our appointment system ensures there is sufficient time to examine your eyes thoroughly, and if you need glasses, our dispensing staff will help you choose without 'sales pressure'. Our facilities include a ground floor air-conditioned consulting room. The waiting room, dispensing area and clinical assessment room are also based on the ground floor enabling easy access for those with mobility issues.
Services
Normally, our eyes are spherical, like a football. Astigmatism is the word used to describe a slightly more rugby-ball shaped eye. It's not a disease or health problem, and millions of people grow up with astigmatism without even realising. Although our optometrists can identify astigmatism as part of a normal eye test, you won't spot it in a mirror!
Contact lenses can enable you to enjoy your favourite sports, provide you with extra confidence, and give you the freedom of not having to wear glasses if you don't want to. Nowadays, almost everyone can benefit from contact lens wear. Most eyesight problems can be corrected with contact lenses, which are simpler, more convenient and more comfortable than ever before.
At the end of the consultation you will be given a written copy of the vision findings (prescription), and the optometrist will discuss the health of your eyes and answer any of your questions. We place the interest of our patients first - you will not be advised to have glasses if you do not need them, nor will you be advised to change your glasses if it is not necessary.
The normal tear fluid that lubricates the eyes is made up of three layers - an oily (lipid) layer, a watery (aqueous) layer, and a sticky (mucous) layer - and these normal tears are what prevent our eyes from feeling dry. You release extra tears when you cry. These are the same tears that are also triggered when something goes into or irritates the eye including chopping onions.
