Services
The Optometry practice in Queen Street has been owned by Derek Dunstone since 1991 after taking over the longstanding 'Rawlings' practice. We are open each weekday, continue to grow and welcome many existing and new patients. The Practice has three consultation rooms, a supplementary tests room and two dispensing areas.
The eye examination has now become even more comfortable! We have invested in the latest eye pressure measuring instrument that requires no puff of air, or drops. This innovative equipment is completely painless and is based on a rebound measuring principle. Your vision and eye health is extremely important to us.
However much you enjoy wearing your spectacles, do you find there are times when you might like not to wear them? For example when, socialising, shopping, or for outdoor activities such as cycling, gardening, walking, riding, rugby and football. Spectacles can become especially inconvenient when outside in the rain or when participating in any sport or exercise.
Private tutorials are also available - practical and theoretical tuition by appointment for optometrists and ophthalmologists. Courses are held in private Practice in South Suffolk for Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and other eye care practitioners. Courses can be tailor made and can be held at alternative locations or countries by arrangement.

I was fed up with the 'sausage machine' system used by a high street optician chain, where I saw different people at every stage and on every visit. So I decided to use this local practice. I have seen the same optician for every visit over several years so he understands my history and my concerns. He talks me through every element of my tests so that I have a a clear idea of what is happening.
He does not try to sell me spectacles when I do not need them and if I do, makes sure that they are the right shape and size for the way my eyes work. The reception staff are helpful and friendly. If you want a personal and professional service I would thoroughly recommend Dunstone.
