If you have an appointment and are symptomatic however, please call the practice to rearrange. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Gary Hardwick is a local lad. He was born in Blackpool. Following graduation from Manchester in 1981 he undertook his post graduate year in central Preston. He passed his professional qualifications in 1982 and was contacted by his own optician (Sean Jameson) with an offer of a partnership of a practice in Cleveleys.
Phil qualified from Bradford & Ilkley College in 1993 and after spending his pre-reg year working for Boots Opticians in Blackpool, Preston and Southport, went on to become the practice manager at the Blackpool branch. In 1997 he joined G R Hardwick as practice manager. He enjoys the fun and challenge of frame styling, having spent time with House of Colour and also at Silhouette's head office in Linz, Austria looking at how face shapes and colour can affect frame choice. He has recently trained with Rodenstock to become a B.I.G.

Service Without Compare. It was a great pleasure and indeed a privilege to be examined by the expert optometrists at Hardwicks in Cleveleys. Someone unknown to me had made a mendacious (ie lying) online report to the DVLA that my eyesight was such that I was unfit to drive. This despite my holding a clean licence for over 60 years, and safely driving both my wife's Smart car locally and exploring mainland Europe in my 7-metre 3-ton motorhome!
To add insult to injury, the DVLA required me to take an eye test with Specsavers at their main Blackpool branch(!) but the pandemic meant that no DVLA testing was taking place there. After some 3 months of waiting, I made an appointment with Hardwicks, who used to test for the DVLA before Specsavers undercut all opposing bids and secured a 5-year contract worth some 19 million. Hardwicks were excellent both technically and personally.
Nothing was too much trouble. In particular, highly experienced Gary Hardwick used DVLA-approved equipment to measure my field of vision, as well as carrying out a series of other in-depth measurements and inspections on the state of my 83-year-old eyes. The result was that I do not need glasses for driving (indeed, far from it), and that I would benefit from spectacles with low 'strength' lenses only as an aid to reading small print.
What a great relief after the uncertainty produced by the false report, the rigidity of the DVLA and the failure of Specsavers to carry out the terms of their contract. I went from uncaring remote bureaucracy to Hardwicks' human warmth and high levels of care and skill. I now await Specsavers machinations with greatly increased confidence. Barry Williamson

So much more of a personal experience as opposed to the high street shops. Thorough eye exam. Sharon was so thorough with myself answering all my questions with extreme professionalism and is also extremely knowledgable. Her care and kindness delivered with a smile which made my visit to G R Hardwick so much better and more in depth than any other Optometrists I have previously been to. Excellent care and after care. All the staff here are kind and more than helpful. I would and will recommend G R Hardwick to anyone looking for the best care.
