This eye care practice is one of the best I have ever seen. They have space age equipment and very good staff. But you pay a premium. That would not normally be a problem for me. However, I have just discovered that the monthly plan I was using with them was not at all good. Will change the way i do business here but recommend it totally if you can afford it!

This is a most professional and technically competent practice. The premises are welcoming and elegant, the range of products is beautifully displayed and all the staff are knowledgable and helpful. Claire and her team are highly trained and inspire total confidence - they use the most up to date equipment and take care to ensure you understand all the results of the tests. Happy to recommend most highly.

The expertise and customer care at H&D, and the cutting-edge, specialist eyecare equipment used by the practice, simply cannot be rivalled by the big-name high street chains. I've suffered with keratoconus since my teens - about 45 years - and in that time I've had corneal grafts and, more recently, laser surgery in both eyes. I've been treated by more than a dozen eyecare providers, of varying levels of specialisation - and Claire Ranger at H&D was, by miles, the most committed of all them to finding a solution to my very tricky situation.

At one point, about a decade ago, a contact lens "specialist" at Vision Express tried just two lenses for my problematic right eye - and then gave up, declaring that there was nothing further that technology could do for me, and that I would have to live with the failing vision. I consulted Claire - and she tried a couple more lenses, and a couple more after that. until we found the right fit. Near-perfect vision, for another decade!

In the past year I've struggled again, with age-related dry eyes making it impossible to continue with RGP lenses, but Claire has searched tirelessly, and found a new solution through a soft toric lens that I can wear 16 hours a day without discomfort. I can recommend her with absolute confidence. and that's not just me speaking; it's the world-renowned Harley St specialist Allon Barsam too; the man who carried out my recent laser surgery (look him up on Google!).

When he heard who would be taking care of me, post-op, he said: "Claire? At Hammond & Dummer? Oh, she's good - she's very good!" High praise indeed, from one of the top eye guys in the world.

The service provided is outstanding. Not only is the equipment used highly sophisticated compared with that of previous opticians I have encountered, examinations are thorough and time is taken to show the results of tests and talk them through, clearly and with patience. No question was treated as silly. Answers are detailed and straightforward and delivered with humanity and respect. The level of expertise is impressive. I feel very lucky to be a patient of this practice.

Outstanding. Beautiful. This is the best optical practice I have ever visited. You can tell as soon as you walk in that you are dealing with quality. But wait, does that come with the same level of service and support? Yes indeed. Claire and her staff are really helpful and will spend time with you to ensure you get what you want - great vision and a great look. I could not recommend Hammond and Dummer more - definitely worth a visit if you are in Milton Keynes.

This is probably the most important recommendation I shall ever make; I was referred to them my another less equipped optician last October with concerns about my vision, they identified very quickly that I had a detached retina and contacted The John Radcliffe Hospital. They saved the sight in my eye because of the immediate action Hammond & Drummer took.

I was totally unfortunate to have the same thing happen to my other eye last month, same process, after a phone call I was in the hospital two hours later and surgery with 24 hours! Your eye sight is one of the most important things you will ever have, this company is the best you will ever come across, lovely people that really care. Thank-you for your due diligence as a result I can see my lovely wife and my young daughter grow up!

Astonishingly brilliant experience from start to finish. The staff were knowledgeable at every possible stage of the process, friendly, sympathetic to the absolute ignorance of a 40-year-old-first-time-glasses-wearer. They got everything done super quick, communication was impeccable. I honestly can't say enough good things about them.

My first time here and I was very impressed. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. Eye test was first class. by far superior to your average mainstream Opticians. Contact Lense fitting etc in a weeks time. can't wait. Thank you Claire.

We have been customers of Hammond Dummer for several years now and have been treated like royalty. Nothing is too much for Claire and her colleagues, especially Belinda. You have a thorough eye examination with the latest test equipment and they take time to show you all the latest designs that they have in a relaxed atmosphere. A really nice touch is the cup of tea and biscuits that are offered while you make your choice in such luxurious surroundings. Claire has gone out of her way to make us feel very much at home. We had visited Hammond and Drummer for 5 years whilst we lived in Milton Keynes but after moving to France we started to use French Opticians. However as I have several issues with my eyes we decided that the exceptional service offered by Drummond and Hammer was worth returning to the UK for. We arrived an hour early (we thought we were late) but this did not phase anyone.

We were offered a cup of coffee and biscuit and and behind the scenes they worked to fit us in. The staff are so lovely - they take so much time to explain what is happening and treatment plans. The eye examination is very thorough and uses the latest high tech equipment. The selection of glasses is awesome unfortunately for me to awesome. Whilst I was being fitted for my glasses and choosing my lenses my wife wondered around and found a pair that she loved after a quick check of her prescriptions and eye exam so she too ended up with new glasses.

Our request to have our glasses posted to France was met with absolutely no problem. 10 days after our appointment we were told our glasses had been posted and 3 days later they arrived. I cannot recommend Claire and her team. If you want a professional friendly service with an amazing selection of stylish frames then this is the place to go.

I needed to be seen as an emergency, due to a foreign object in my eye and the team could not have been more helpful. They called back immediately and whilst there Claire put me at ease, talked through the procedure and expertly removed the splinter from my eye. I could not recommend highly enough. Thank you.

A very professional service, you get treated like a celebrity! Fantastic range of glasses and sun glasses, all my favourite brands. Eye test was much more thorough than those I've had previously at other well known opticians and everything explained every step of the way. It's very clear Claire cares passionately about eyecare and her patients. Lovely staff to put the cherry on the top. Highly recommended!
