Services
As an independent practice we take pleasure in offering our patients a tailored service to ensure that the experience is suited to individual needs. We strive to ensure our practice is warm and welcoming and that patients truly feel part of our Williams Optometrists family. Our dedicated professional team know how to help anxious patients and children feel at ease and we are very comfortable providing eye examinations for non english speaking patients, young babies and patients with specific disabilities or requirements.
Regrettably, with the safety of our patients, staff, family and friends at the foremost of our minds, we have closed our doors to direct patient contact. This tough decision is made respectful of advice provided by the government and professional associations regarding social distancing. We are still Open to provide a service for spectacle repairs, spectacle provision and supply of contact lenses by special arrangement.
The shark cornea has been used in eye surgery, since its cornea is similar to a human cornea. The cornea is the only living tissue in the human body that does not contain any blood vessels. The reason why your nose gets runny when you are crying is because the tears from the eyes drain into the nose. Some people start to sneeze if they are exposed to sunlight or have a light shined into their eye.
A regular eye exam is the best way to protect your eyesight-and an easy precaution to take. It is particularly important if you notice a change in your vision, if your eye is injured in anyway, or if you have a family history of eye disease. At Williams Optometrists, we feel it is important to take time to conduct a thorough examination.
Only 10 years ago OCT technology was mainly used in research, but recent advances in the technology have brought this to the forefront of eyecare. This revolutionary technology is quite common in eye hospitals but this top level of care is available in only a few private consulting rooms or High Street optometry practices.

My eyes have always received the best of care and attention from Stuart & Mike. It's worth the trip from Leigh. They also look at getting the best value for glasses and lenses. I never feel they are selling anything, but pointing me towards the most appropriate and cost effective solutions. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Great place with highly knowledgeable, friendly staff who always go out of their way to help. I really appreciate how they deal with my children's needs as well as my own. My contact lens appointments are thorough and staff have managed to find me lenses I can wear comfortably (which I struggled with before coming here) and have understood the issues with my eyes and told me how I can manage these.
In addition, I am always a bit uncertain about choosing glasses and Paul Gallivan at Williams found me a pair I would have missed myself but am thrilled with. Really pleased we gave this place a try.

This is a fantastic local Optician. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, making for a relaxed and pleasant overall experience. My sight test showed that I would benefit from varifocal lenses which I was slightly reluctant to try. However I took their advice and was very pleased with the end result in terms of quality, comfort, speed and price. This is about as good as an Optician's can get and is miles ahead of the large chains.
