Eye Examination
Report
We rely on our sight in all aspects of daily life and therefore an eye examination is essential to monitor eye health and maintain the best vision possible.
We strive to provide the most thorough eye examinations using latest equipment so you, the patient have full confidence in our findings and recommended management.

What to expect?
Our eye examinations usually last about half an hour but we will advise you if you require any extra specific tests and how long these may take.
We have a general routine we perform for every patient but as we like to treat every patient as an individual the optician will tailor the examination similarly, which guarantees you a thorough examination executed smoothly, keeping you as relaxed as possible.
As well as including all tests to check for your sight and to see if any vision correction is required (e. g. spectacles, contact lenses) we also check for any potential eye disease like Glaucoma, Cataract, Macular Degeneration to name a few.
Combining this with modern examination techniques we can ensure all is done to help prevent unnecessary deterioration to your sight and eye health. Other tests we will carry out include binocular assessment (how well the eyes work together) , peripheral visual field analysis and intraocular pressure measurement.
The optician will always explain the results of the various assessments and you will be given every opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The recommendations given at the end of the eye examination by the optician will take into account factors such as your working environment, lifestyle and any leisure pursuits you have, so we can meet your visual needs in the best possible way.
As you may have heard, my wife tragically passed away approximately 2 months ago, after the cancer treatment options we came to Israel for, failed to help her. This has obviously been an extremely challenging time for me; and I am extremely grateful to all my patients; for your understanding, patience, support and condolences.

After 3 years at primary school, our son was still struggling to read even basic, high-frequency words. We tried an online reading course (called EasyRead), and although this helped, his reading still didn’t take-off. EasyRead identified early-on that he had poor eye tracking, and when this did not respond to the exercises they prescribed, they advised us to consult a Behavioural Ophthalmologist – so we found our way to Henry.

Henry’s holistic approach has worked wonders!

Henry identified that as well as having multiple defects in his visual system, our son also had difficulties with balance, gross motor skills, rhythm, and concentration; and an inability to sit still.

We were aware of some of this – his hyperactivity and his frequently challenging behavior – but had not thought this could be improved other than by waiting for him to grow up. Through Henry’s therapy programme all of these issues have reduced markedly.

Henry fine-tuned the exercises at each visit so make sure the progress continued. It was only after significant improvements in our son’s ability to focus on a task, and tolerate repetition, that he was ready for the discipline of specific eye exercises, which have enabled him to see, and so to read, much better.

Not only has our son’s reading dramatically improved, but his communication skills have changed massively too. Our son had been slow to develop language skills. Speech therapy helped, but since following Henry’s therapy programme, there have been dramatic improvements in his fluency and vocabulary. He now enjoys puns and making up rhymes, and is starting to choose his words to convey an atmosphere as well as a meaning.

He recently thanked us for taking him to Henry - he told us he was now able to pick out our car from a distance whereas before, he wouldn’t have been able to pick out the colour. I am really glad we found Henry. Thank you so much!

About seven years ago was my first introduction to Mr Kahan. I had been struggling immensely in school in both maths and Chumash, whilst I excelled in English and Humanities my mathematical and Kodesh skills were far behind those of my other classmates. Basic concepts most children understood from Year 2 I couldn't even follow. When it came to applying to high schools, these set backs came up in every interview.

One school that I applied to even considered putting me in the special needs unit. My parents were introduced to Mr Kahan and from that day on things began to change. Mr Kahan began to work with me. The first couple of sessions were really long, frustrating and immensely exhausting. The various exercises he got me to do seemed at times completely pointless and I felt like a fool.

Yet Mr Kahan remained calm throughout always encouraging, always pushing me that one extra step. Slowly we began to see results. The "strange" work that he did with me began to make a significant change on my life. At first the changes were small, but slowly my confidence grew and my abilities grew. Hours of exercises, one on one sessions and constant work meant that I began to see the fruits of our labour pay off.

Now almost eight years down the line, with Mr Kahan incredible scheme, patience and understanding I have achieved what seemed the impossible. In Maths GCSE I achieved a high B grade when I was predicted that I would never get more then a D. My Gemora and Chumash skills have excelled tremendously with me performing on par with some of the top students in my year.

Last week I sat a farher for one of the top yeshivas and I got in. All this would have been impossible without the work Mr Kahan did with me. I am a true testament to what he can achieve. It is possible!! I am forever indebted to Mr Kahan, he has changed my life forever.

I am amazed at the results that Mr Kahan has achieved with Uther. Prior to this course of treatment, Uther was very uncoordinated, easily distracted and unable to cope with schoolwork and sports. Over the past few years he has come along steadily using the programme of exercises taught to us by Mr Kahan and I was recently amazed to see him playing in goal and actually scoring goals!

Prior to his being assessed by Mr Kahan I was at the end of my tether and could not identify what the problem was or how to deal with it. Understanding the complication caused by neurological developmental delays and poor vision function has helped me to understand my son so much better.

My daughter seemed to make a good start with her reading in Reception but it was soon clear to me that she wasn't progressing as she should. Her teachers didn't seem to pick up on the problem but by the beginning of Year 3, I realised she was cheating in all her assessments in an attempt to disguise the fact that she really was struggling with her reading and didn't want to be found out.

In fact, she lived in fear of people discovering that she couldn't read, so much so that she was having night terrors and her behaviour was deteriorating. She claimed words flashed, that she saw double of things when reading, and yet a high street optician could find nothing wrong with her eyesight, and the SEN coordinator at school could find no obvious signs of dyslexia.

In desperation and after extensive google-searching, I came across Mr Kahan. And I believe it has been the best thing that ever happened to my daughter. He did extensive tests on her and realised exactly what her problems were. He then gave her bi-focal glasses and a coloured overlay, explained that she had eye-tracking problems and retained reflexes (probably due to the glue ear she suffered as a baby and toddler), and said he believed he could cure her after 10 sessions of therapy.

The glasses and overlays made a huge difference and she suddenly started being able to read in her head, comprehending at the same time. After 8 sessions she no longer needed the glasses or overlays and now she is rapidly catching up with her classmates, is on the top table for writing and second table for reading and has become much more confident as a result.

I cannot recommend Mr Kahan highly enough. What he did was nothing short of miraculous and my daughter will now fulfil the potential I always believed she had, thanks to his therapy, techniques and expertise.
