Jones & Murphy is an independent optometrist practice (opticians) in Carmarthen. Established in 1949, we have spent the last 70years providing outstanding community eyecare and high quality eyewear at very competitive prices. We pride ourselves on clinical excellence and traditional values. As well as Private and NHS sight tests, we are able to provide specialist clinical services including glaucoma management, diagnosis & treatment of acute eye problems, dry & watery eye assessments, disposable & complex contact lens fitting, along with bespoke spectacle dispensing service.
This year Jones & Murphy celebrates 70 years of providing clinically outstanding eyecare in Carmarthenshire. Founded in 1949 by Mr Dewi Jones, then joined by Mr Adrian Murphy in 1967 and more latterly by Dr Adrian Jones in 2006, Jones & Murphy continues at the forefront of community focused eyecare and high quality eyewear.
We tailor the sight test to meet the individual needs of our patients, not all tests are suitable for all patients. This is also available to eligible patients on the NHS. Detailed history will be taken to enable specific areas to be concentrated on, this will include your medical history, current medications (please bring a copy of your prescription with you), previous ophthalmic history, your family ophthalmic history as well as any hobbies, sports and jobs you might do.Assessment of your vision with and without any glasses you may already have.
Unexpected eye problems can often present themselves at the most inconvenient moment. At Jones & Murphy we run 'Meet & Treat' clinics where we will be able to diagnose and, where appropriate, offer you treatment for your eye problem. In Wales we are lucky enough to have the Primary Eyecare Acute Referral Scheme (PEARS) which is backed by the Welsh Assembly and will cover the cost of your initial visit.
