Excellent and timely service. My 3 year old accidently scratched my eye and it was very painful. Went to A&E first and was sent home but the pain and redness was not getting better so called JB opticians who asked me to send a photo of the eye and saw me the same day even though they were short of staff. They gave me some drops and made a follow up appointment. Eye is back to normal. I would highly recommend their services.

Absolutely fantastic service. Reception team went above and beyond to fit me in for a same day eye test and contact lense fitting and my eye test with Aashika was comprehensive, informative and left me feeling confident that my vision was being taken care of. I normally use Specsavers but my experience at James Bryan means I'll be transferring over.

I recently visited James Bryan Opticians with a Ukrainian lady, who has just arrived in this country with a chronic eye condition. The service received was first class. The staff, from reception to optometrist, could not have been more welcoming and attentive. She was given thorough checks of both her eyes, referred to a specialist and given clear guidance for her immediate needs. The staff went "over and above" and I have no hesitation in recommending this optician.

Supporting an independent business rather than a soulless chain/brand always feels the right thing to do but James Bryan deserves that support thanks to its excellent customer service and quality of staff too. All the staff are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable - well done Gemma, Aash and Lewis! - the equipment and technology used to check your eyes is leading edge and has been upgraded again since my last visit while the choice of frames and lenses is spot on. If there is a better opticians in Chelmsford, i certainly haven't found them.

I have visited James Bryan Opticians twice in the last month; once for an eye test and consultation and then to collect the new glasses. I was concerned about my sight and my concerns were addressed. At every stage I found helpful, kind and professional service and advice. Every person (particularly Chloe and Gemma) gave me time, attention and assistance.

I've just collected my new glasses and I'm so thrilled with them and the service I've received. Hansa really looked after me and made the entire process easy. I normally dread making the decisions with new glasses but Hansa and her team were great. I would definitely recommend James Bryan.

Incredible service, even during the pandemic. Friday night call, 7pm, was answered. An emergency appointment arranged for 9am the next morning. Saw two eye specialists, both reached the same conclusion. Was provided with eye product to use - FOC. No charge. Wow! Unbelievable. No wonder I've used James Bryan Opticians for many years, AND buy my contact lenses from them instead of online. It's all part of their service, they seem to love their customers/patients, a rare thing indeed, especially these days.thank you to all, keep it up!

I have been a client of James Bryan from the very beginning. I have had nothing but the best care and attention over the years and have been satisfied with the professional service given. Went in to pick out my first ever pair of glasses. I was very nervous and unsure going in, but Hansa was fantastic in helping me pick out the right frames and showed me lots of options. Highly recommend going here if you're nervous about getting glasses for the first time!

Found them to very friendly and helpful with Zahir-Ally Kanji BSc (Hons) Optometrist being exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable - telling me straight if I require a new pair of glasses, or not as if often the case! Their range of frames is vastly superior to Vision Express or Optical Express, especially if you want rimless frames. Can't recommend them high enough if you require personal attention and like to see the same optometrist on each visit!

As soon as I walked into the store I was met my Gemma and Steve, who made me feel at home whilst I was waiting for my appointment. I was glad to see that all the employees were wearing masks. I was soon met by the optician who was called Aashika, she was lovely. She was very well spoken and clear and concise with what she was trying to say. Aashika was really thorough and was explaining all the new technology to me as things had changed since I last had my eyes tested.

Once the test was complete she explained very well the changes to my eyes and went on to help me pick our a fresh set of frames. All in all a fantastic experience and will definitely be returning for future eye care needs.

Lovely location and atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, proffesional and knowledgeable. They made me feel very relaxed. My pre-eye test examination was done by Lewis who was very friendly and knowledgeable, he also helped me to look at their vast selection of frames after my eye test and sort out the lenses for my glasses. My eye examination was done by Aash.

She was very proffesional in testing and explaining the change in my eye prescription. Being equipped with very sophisticated and high tech equipment to carry out the eye tests made my experience very pleasant. I will definitely recommend James Bryan Opticians to my friends and family.

We arrived for my 4 year old son eye check on time and we were called for a test 15 minutes later! No apologies for waiting even though there wasn't any other customers at that time. The assistant asked us to go upstairs where my son had his eye test. Like any other 4 year-old child he wasn't able to sit still or follow much instructions. Dr Patel was extremely rude and unprofessional.

I was shocked the way she spoke to my son. She asked him to sit on the chair on his knees. He didn't understand what she meant and she said "hurry up because I don't have time". She called us 15 minutes late and yet she is dare to make comments she doesn't have time? To a 4 year old child? Crazy! Or she made sarcastic comments to my son like "do you not understand what I'm saying?".

My foot will never step on your door again. In fact I'm disgusted by this and no, it shouldn't matter my son is autistic. Dr Patel is just simply rude and doesn't know how to deal with small children. On the same day I booked another eye test elsewhere and whilst I was booking an appointment we received completely different treatment. My son and I felt much more welcomed elsewhere. Avoid this place and save your nerves.

I have used James Bryan in Chelmsford for several years and have always been pleased with their service. They may not be the cheapest (I don't really know because not had cause to go elsewhere!) but they do provide a professional service with polite and knowledgeable staff that take great care in calm and pleasant surroundings. Would recommend.

TRuly an excellent Optician's. Always excellent customer service even during the last 12 months. Always made to feel very welcome when visiting the store. A very high level of expertise when carrying out examinations and time is taken to explain outcomes. Stock is always of high quality and current frames especially for prescription sunglasses.

Highly recommended. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent choice of lenses, glasses and sunglasses. They take the time to ensure you are comfortable with your choice and you don't feel rushed at all. No hard sell, just excellent products and services at reasonable prices. What's not to like?
