Established in Norwich in 1924 by Cecil C Amey the company has extended into the county whilst remaining a friendly family business. Today the company consists of 5 practices employing over 30 members of staff of which 5 opticians are family members. Each practice offers a professional service in a modern environment.

Everyone was very friendly, but I'm afraid I cut my hearing test short. A polite young man (old fogey alert) in stained trousers (not a good look) took me through the questions. It was pretty basic, I'd been to Specsavers, and their audiologist was knowledgable and provided useful informations. The main problem, was the lack of a sound booth. The tests were conducted downstairs and there was constant footsteps from above and the stairs to the extent that I simply couldn't make out the quieter ( critical for assessing needs, surely) beeps. I'm afraid I cut it short, before the end, unable to see how it could possibly provide an accurate assessment.

What I love about this business is the service and the range of products they have. They work hard a) to look after your eyes and prescriptions b) work with you to find glasses that enhance your look and suit you as a person. Glasses are and should not be seen as Utilitarian they should have the form and the look as well as the function. You wear them all the time - they have to make you look and feel good and you get what you pay for. Making this decision alone is hard, having someone with experiance and who is honest to work with you on your purchase is important (thanks Lee).

Based on my past 3 years as a customer I have received polite, professional service everytime, showroom has a calm and friendly atmosphere with an extensive range of frames, backed up with excellent product knowledge from Lee. The eye test has been the most comprehensive I have ever had, again, in a relaxed and informative manner, I'm so pleased to have found this branch and would recommend them everytime.

I visited Cecil Amey's Norwich branch today and can highly recommend it! All the members of staff were extremely friendly and professional, the eye test was thorough and the optometrist took the time to talk through the 'eye health' results. All Covid measures were in place and I had no concerns. The young man showing me the spectacle frames was happy to bring me a good variety and at no point did I feel rushed. Thank you Cecil Amey.

Cecil Ameys in Dereham is amazing. My grandaughter had such a bad experience at another opticians but you guys were brilliant. Sallie was so friendly and helpful and did everything she could to make my grandaughter feel relaxed and at ease. The optician was caring and very understanding of a 5 year old. Thank you so much

I popped in after work as I specifically wanted a pair of designer frame glasses, on arrival 4 x staff members were chatting about tuna and what they were having for supper, completely ignoring me. After browsing for a few minute and trying on a few pairs of frames, still no acknowledgement! So I left and walked across the road to Optical express, to a very warm friendly greeting, a fitting and purchased them on the spot, they stock great designer brands. What I find shocking is a high street shop Cecil Amy don't need the business?!.

Was a customer for 20+ years. The opticians themselves are pretty decent and friendly. However, whilst it used to be a good, premium-priced optician, it is now mediocre in most respects. Slow refunds for overpayments, which are taken by standing order and then refunded by cheque, which has to be signed off by a senior member of staff, and then posted out by accounts. Very slow to adjust to any changes in the market. It used to be that you'd get much better service here than at your chain store, but the reverse is now true.
