Services
At Harpenden Eye Centre, we conduct both private and NHS eye examinations. We recommend you have an eye test every year, or more frequently if recommended by our optometrists. With more than 100 different ways to test that your eyes are working correctly, our opticians select the tests most appropriate for you.
At Harpenden Eye Centre, we conduct contact lens consultations for both current and new contact lens users. We recommend you have a contact lens consultation every 6 to 12 months, or more frequently if recommended by our optometrists. The contact lens consultation not only provides an accurate assessment of your ability to see through your contact lenses, but also gauges the general health of your eyes and identifies any complications that can arise as a result of contact lens wear, whether you wear daily, fortnightly, monthly or Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) contact lenses.
During an eye examination, an optometrist routinely studies the whole of the eye to look for any signs of abnormalities. With an OCT scan, we are able to scan the back of your eye in incredible detail from the top surface of your retina down to the underlying surfaces which are not visible to us by other means.
Behavioural Optometry is a specialism within optometry which can help to improve visual system issues caused by a range of conditions such as dyslexia or dyspraxia. At Harpenden Eye Centre, our fully accredited behavioural optometrist is one of only a small number of qualified experts in the UK, as well as being a certified paediatric optometrist and a committee member of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists.
